| At approximately 1430hrs Chief 2 was heading toward Charlotte Hall when a large column of smoke was observed in the area of Beuchart Pl. Upon investigation, Chief 2 found the fire to be located off of Carrico Mill Rd on the SMECO power line right-of-way. The assignment for the undetermined fire was requested. This brought Engine Co. 2, Engine Co. 5 and Squad 3. Due to the recent heavy rains and past damage caused by the previous year's hurricane/tropical storms, the road was impassable. Command requested additional Brush units and firefighting capable ATV's to assist in the extinguishment of the structures and brush area involved. The DNR Forestry Dozer was requested and assisted in cutting a fire break and freeing a majority of the brush units from the rain soaked areas. The fire involved two vacant mobile homes and approximately 2 acres of brush. All units cleared the scene by 1830hrs. |
