| On March 31st at approximately 10:03 am, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Oaks Road in the area of the old Southern Maryland Pre Release Unit for a motor vehicle collision. Squad 2 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 responded. Dentsville Chief 15 added onto the run, as he was in the area of the incident.
Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle collision into an electric pole with wires down. The vehicle involved in the collision was on fire. The occupant of the vehicle self extricated prior to the arrival of units. Squad 2 requested Southern Maryland Electric (SMECO) to secure the power, and the next due engine company to assist with the fire. Dentsville Engine 151 made the response. SMECO arrived on scene and secured the power while Squad 2 and Engine 151 extinguished the fire. Paramedic Ambulance 28 transported the occupant to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.
The scene was turned over to the Charles County Sheriffs Office to conduct the investigation and assist SMECO with road closures. |
