New Engine Tanker Hits the Road

By Safety Officer Brad Saunders
August 17, 2025

On Sunday August 17th, Hughesville volunteers set up a driver's training course for members at the Regency Furniture Stadium, home of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Baseball Team. There were several cone courses, as well as a drafting/dump site to train on the operations of the new Engine Tanker. This was the final step of driver's training before placing the unit in service. After the training was complete, the units returned to the station where the Engine Tanker was washed and placed in service at 12:00 pm.

Engine Tanker 2 was dispatched on its maiden voyage at 9:42 pm when it ran a residential gas leak on Emory Place in Hughesville.

The members of the Department would like to thank the committee for building a functional unit to serve our community for years to come. We would also like to thank the citizens of our community for supporting the Department in various ways including donations, raffles and fundraisers, which provides additional funds for the Department and fleet to service to our community and throughout Southern Maryland.

Units: Engine Tanker 2

Mutual Aid: Engine 22, Squad 2, Tanker 2, Brush 2
