MVC with Injuries

On July 31st at approximately 0512 hours, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Prince Frederick Road in the area of Welch's Acres Place in Benedict for the Motor Vehicle Collision with people trapped. Battalion Chief 2, Squad 2 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 responded. Squad 2 arrived on scene and found a three vehicle collision with one overturned off the roadway. Paramedic Ambulance 28 began assessing injuries and Squad 2 determined no one was trapped. Squad 2 cancelled the extrication units and requested an additional ambulance for transport. Battalion Chef 2 arrived on scene and assumed command. After patient assessment was complete, one patient refused transport and two patients required transport. Maryland State Police Trooper 7 responded to transport the victims to an area trauma center. Prince Frederick Engine 21 responded and handled the landing site. Once the victims were transported, the scene was turned over to the Maryland State Police for investigation. The roadway remained closed for a couple hours during the investigation and removal of vehicles.
Ga. firefighter’s hand severed in sword attack
Wrightsville Firefighter Chad Wombles' right hand and left thumb were severed in an unprovoked attack before a police officer fatally shot the attacker
