On April 9th at approximately 5:50AM, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to 15110 Burnt Store Road at Hotel Charles for the structure fire. Engine 22, Tanker 2, Chief 2, Chief 2A, Chief 2B made the response.

Engine 22 arrived on scene of a two story commercial building with nothing evident. Crews advanced a line to the second story and located smoke on the second floor. The crew quickly located an apartment with a couch on fire. Crews extinguished the fire and began ventilation and checked for extension. Mechanicsville Squad 2, Prince Frederick Tower 2, and Waldorf Squad 3 assisted with searches and ventilation.

Chief 2A held the command and units operated for approximately 45 minutes. We would also like to thank Westlake Rescue Engine 12 for filling in at our station while units operated on scene.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents of the apartment. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is handling the investigation into the cause of the fire.
