On January 12th, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to the 4500 block of Roosevelt Drive in North Beach for the house fire. Engine Tanker 2 and Tanker 2 made the response.

The first arriving units from Calvert went on the scene with a two-story single-family home that had fire through the roof. They estimated the home to be 5,000 square feet or more.

Engine Tanker 2 arrived and split crew. The crew reported to the fire ground and command assigned them to pull a 2 inch handling and assist with extinguishment.

Engine Tanker 2 and Tanker 2 were utilized to shuttle water to the fire ground. Both tankers dropped their water (a combined 5,500 gallons) and reported to Beach Elementary to refill. After refilling, both tankers returned to the fire ground. Shortly after returning, the fire was brought under control, and the assignment was scaled back. Company 2 units operated for 3 hours.

The weather during this incident played a major factor in the response. Icy conditions, along with narrow roads, made the response and water shuttle operations challenging. In total, 9 tankers were utilized to supply the fireground with water. Units from Calvert, Charles, Anne Arundel, and PG Counties worked together to resolve this incident.
