On January 11th, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Scarlett Oak Road in La Plata for the house fire. Chief 2 and Engine 22 made the response.

The first arriving units arrived to find a fire showing from an attached garage with an extension into the house. Chief 2 arrived on scene shortly after and assumed Incident Command. Engine 22 arrived and established a water supply as the crew reported to the command post. The crew was assigned to stretch a line to Division 2 (second floor). The line was stretched and the crew assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. The units from Hughesville operated for approximately 3 hours before being released.

While the Chief and Engine 22 operated on the scene, Hughesville Volunteers had a third crew staffing the station. The first crew which was on Squad 2 was covering a fill in at Hollywood VFD in St Mary’s County.
