On January 9th, 2025, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to the 4000 Block of Cortona Drive in Calvert County for the house fire. Chief 2A and Engine Tanker 2 made the response. Engine Tanker 2 was dispatched as the 5th die engine company.

The first arriving units found a two-story single-family house well off. Shortly after units began an aggressive fire attack, a partial collapse occurred, causing the incident command to order an evacuation and Defensive operations only.

Engine Tanker 2 sent its crew to the fire ground for assignment. The driver and unit were added to the tanker shuttle and dumped 2500 gallons into the fire ground. The crew assisted with repositioning hand lines, which were later placed in service.

Once clear of the fire ground, Engine Tanker 2 covered Prince Frederick’s firehouse for the duration of the incident and returned to Charles County after 3 hours.
