On November 24th, after clearing the house fire, Hughesville Engine 22 handled a fill in for Waldorf VFD while the units remained on the scene of the house fire.
While stationed in Waldorf, Engine 22 took in several additional calls for service. Engine 22, Chief 2 and Chief 2B responded to the 1200 block of Smallwood Drive West for the auto fire. Chief 2 arrived shortly after dispatch and confirmed a pick up truck well off. Engine 22 arrived on scene and extinguished the fire while Chief 2B ensured there was no extension to the shopping center the truck was parked next to. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office was requested to respond to investigate the incident.
As soon as units cleared the scene of the auto fire, Engine 22 and Chief 2B responded to the 8700 Block of Grassland Court for the gas leak. Upon arrival, Engine 22 picked up the supply line from Engine 73 and connected to the hydrant in the event water supply was needed. Chief 2B assumed the command and after running meters through the structure, the assignment was scaled back releasing Engine 22 from the scene. Once the leak was mitigated, the remainder of the assignment was placed in service. |
