Hughesville Volunteers Standby at Andrews AFB Joint Services Open House

The Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc. was called to assist with Andrew Air Force Base's Fire Department with public safety during their 2004 Joint Services Open House Day. HVFDEMS responded with a brush unit and two personnel for about 12 hours on Saturday's show. On Sunday, an Engine and a Brush unit with five personnel stood by for another estimated 12 hours. After thorough background and security checks on all personnel, Hughesville's units were assigned to AAFB station 11 and staged near a crowded location with many highly visible sites. Fortunately, no calls for assistance were required and the personnel were able to watch the show.
