Working House Fire

On February 18th at approximately 0408 hours, Hughesville Volunteers and surrounding departments were alerted to the 16000 block of Overhill Way for the house fire. Engine Tanker 2, Tanker 2 and Engine 22 made the response.

Engine Tanker 2 arrived on scene to find a one story single family home with fire showing on side Delta. All occupants were reported out of the house by the Charles County Sheriffs Office. Additional units arrived moments later and units began an attack on the fire. Due to the interior conditions units conducted an exterior attack to bring the fire under control.

Tanker 2 utilized two tanks of water during this incident. Engine 22 was assigned the fill site and filled the tankers utilized after they dropped there water. During the course of the fire Tanker 2, Benedict Tanker 5 and
Prince Frederick Tanker 2 were utilized.

Hughesville Volunteers would like to thank Bryans Road VFD for providing an engine to staff our area while we operated on the scene. We would also like to thank Newburg VFD and Prince Frederick Tanker 2 for handling tanker coverage for our first due.

Hughesville units operated on the scene for approximately three hours. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is handling the investigation.
