On January 11th, just after 7AM, Hughesville Volunteers and surrounding Departments were alerted to the intersection of Malcolm Road and Covington Road for the Motor Vehicle Collision involving Hazmat. Squad 2 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 responded. PG Engine Tanker 836 arrived first to find a fuel tanker overturned leaking fuel. Units quickly went to work to prevent the spill from extending to a nearby residence. The truck was loaded with 2,800 gallons of off road diesel. Hazmat units arrived on scene shortly later and were able to slow the leak down. The units then offloaded the remaining fuel into another fuel truck. Hughesville units cleared the scene and the scene was maintained by HazMat teams from Charles County, Naval District Washington and Maryland Department of Environment.

Beside the accident with the overturned Q-Dog tanker on Malcolm Rd. and Covington Rd. this morning, there was a second accident on Croom Rd. and Molly Berry Rd. with an overturned pickup truck, please slow down especially in the morning black ice on the roads.
