Today, Hughesville volunteers were busy serving our community and those surrounding us. This morning just after 6:30 am, Engine 24 responded to Benedict to assist with a tree blocking the road involving power lines. Around 10:15 am, Hughesville was alerted to Mechanicsville in St Marys County for the motor vehicle collision. Squad 2 responded and upon arrival located a vehicle overturned on its roof. Squad 2 secured the vehicle and assisted Mechanicsville VFD. At approximately 11:11 am, Squad 2 was alerted to Mechanicsville, St. Marys County for the motor vehicle collision involving extrication. While responding, units were advised of an overturned tractor trailer. SM Ambulance 188C arrived to find a two vehicle collision with an overturned tractor trailer. St. Marys Squad 2 arrived shortly after and assumed command. A small hazmat leak from the tractor trailer was mitigated and the assignment was scaled back. Hughesville Squad 2 was released shortly after arrival. At 11:22 am, Hughesville volunteers were alerted to Gallant Green Road and Truman Manor Ln for the extrication collision. Engine 22 responded from quarters and Squad 2 responded from St. Mary's County. Battalion 2C arrived to find a two vehicle collision with no entrapment and one patient with minor injuries. Engine 22, Tanker 2, Battalion 2C responded. First arriving units found a small fire in the attic which was quickly extinguished. Battalion 2C held the Command until the arrival of Chief 15A.
