On March 15th at approximately 652PM, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to the area of La Plata Road for the smoke investigation. Chief 2, Engine 22, and Engine 24 made the response. While responding Charles County Communications upgraded the assignment to a structure fire on Brice Chapel Road. With the upgraded assignment, Tanker 2 also made the response.

Engine 22 arrived on the scene to find multiple vehicles and a camper on fire with extension into the woods. Engine 22 established the tactical command and requested a brush fire task force due to the heavy winds. Chief 3B arrived on the scene shortly after and assumed the Command. Crews went to work extinguishing the multiple auto fires, the RV fire, and the brush fire. Engine 22 supplied the fire ground with attack lines, while La Plata Engine 11 supplied Engine 22 with water from the dump site. Multiple Tankers were utilized to shuttle water to the scene from St Charles High School. The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes.

In total nine motor vehicles, one structure and surrounding brush was damaged due to the fire. Units operated on the scene for approximately three hours. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office was contacted to conduct an investigation. During the incident, Hughesville Squad 2 was dispatched and responded to an extrication motor vehicle collision in Waldorf.

We would also like to thank Calvert County Engine 61 (Huntingtown) for providing a fill in for our station while units operated on the scene of the fire.
