On May 24th at approximately 6:18PM Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Brandywine Road in the area of the PG County line for a motor vehicle collision. Squad 2, Chief 2 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 responded. While responding communications advised PG County was running a collision in the area and it was reported to be serious with people trapped. Moments later Chief 2 arrived on scene to find a two vehicle head on collision with a subject trapped and 4 patients, just inside PG County. Chief 2 established the command and the assignment was upgraded bringing additional units. Squad 2 arrived on scene and began extrication on the trapped subject. Squad 2 removed the doors and roof to free the trapped occupant. PG Engine 836 along with Benedict Rescue Engine 5 assisted with the extrication. Chief 2 requested two helicopters to transport injured victims from the scene. Once the extrication was complete, EMS units transported two victims to a nearby business where they were transported by MSP Trooper 2 to an area hospital. The other two patients were ground transported for their injuries. Engine 24 and Engine 51 handled the Landing Zone.
