On August 26th at 1:00 pm, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to the 28700 Block of Thompson’s Corner Road in Mechanicsville for the motor vehicle collision with people trapped. Chief 2 and Squad 2 made the response. Squad 2 and Chief 2 arrived to find a two vehicle collision involving an SUV and a tractor trailer. The SUV was on its side with the operator trapped in the vehicle. Squad 2 began extrication of the trapped patient. A short time later Mechanicsville Squad 2 arrived on scene and assisted with extrication. The patient was extricated and flown to an area trauma center for treatment of injuries.
