On February 28th at 6:56 PM, Hughesville Volunteers and surrounding departments were alerted to Maryland Woods Court in Waldorf for the house fire. Squad 2 and Chief 2 made the response. Waldorf Squad 3 arrived on the scene with fire showing and requested the working fire dispatch. A short time later, a second alarm was requested bringing more units for fire suppression. On the second alarm Engine 22 made these response. Upon arrival, Squad 2 and Chief 2 assisted with extinguishment. Chief 3 held the command and ordered an evacuation of the structure to conduct accountability after a firefighter was injured. A short time later units re-entered the structure and completely extinguished the fire. Two neighboring houses sustained minor damage due to exposure.

Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our prayers for a speedy recovery to the injured firefighter.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to complete the investigation into the origin and cause of the fire.
