Serious Accident with Extrication

On February 20th at 12:20 AM, Hughesville Volunteers and surrounding companies were alerted to Leonardtown Road and Herbert Road for the motor vehicle collision with subjects trapped. Squad 2, Engine 22, Engine Tanker 2, Engine 24, Duty 2 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 made the response. Units arrived on the scene to find a two vehicle head on collision with entrapment. The first patient was rapidly extricated and treated by Paramedic Ambulance 28. The second patient required extrication by removing the vehicles doors and slightly rolling the dash. Once extricated the patient was turned over to Paramedic Ambulance 37 from Waldorf VFD. Both ambulances transported to the Southern Maryland Electric (SMECO) helipad for aviation transportation to area trauma hospitals. Maryland State Police Troopers 2 and 7 handled the medevac transportations.
