On December 23rd at 1159AM, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted mutual aid to Mechanicsville for the motor vehicle collision with people trapped. Squad 2 and Ambulance 27 responded. Units arrived on the scene to find multiple vehicles and multiple entrapments. Squad 2 immediately went to work extricating one patient. Ambulance 27 arrived and treated one patient and transported to the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home where the patient was transported by helicopter to a trauma center. In all 8 patients were flown to area hospitals for treatment.

Hughesville Volunteers worked closely with multiple companies under the command of St. Mary’s Chief 2. The coordinated response and excellent team work amongst all responding units quickly resolved this incident.
