Brush Fire
By Firefighter/EMT-B Brad Saunders
November 20, 2020
On November 20th at 1:33 PM, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Dentsville's first due for a brush fire involving a combine. Engine 24 and Engine Tanker 2 made the response. Engine 24 arrived on scene to find a combine well off along with a corn field with an approximate 40x60 area burning. Due to the high winds in the area the fire was spreading rapidly. Engine 24 requested two additional brush trucks bringing Bel Alton VFD and Mechanicsville VFD.
Dentsville Engine 151 and 154 arrived and quickly assisted with extinguishment of the fire. Mechanicsville Brush 2 arrived and assisted with mopping up hot spots. Units operated on the scene for approximately 40 minutes before clearing.
