On August 12th, 2020 at 0400 AM, Hughesville Volunteers were alerted to Leonardtown Road and Oliver Shop Road for the motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer. A short time later the run assignment was upgraded, indicating one of the vehicles was on fire which brought assistance from Waldorf VFD and La Plata VFD. Engine 22 and Paramedic Ambulance 28 made the response. Units arrived on scene to find a passenger vehicle rear ended a tractor trailer. The passenger vehicle caught fire after the driver self extricated from the vehicle. Engine 22 extinguished the vehicle fire while the Paramedic Ambulance treated and transported the operator of the passenger vehicle. Waldorf Engine 33 arrived and investigated the tractor trailer for hazards. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
