On May 12th around 9:54 pm, volunteers from the Hughesville Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision with a single vehicle into a pole in the area of Bryantown Road on Leonardtown Road. Just prior to arrival, Squad 2 was advised there were two occupants trapped inside the vehicle that was overturned. The first arriving officer gave detailed instructions to his crew prior to arrival, which allowed them to work systemically and as a team upon arrival. Once the vehicle was stabilized, a driver's door was popped allowing access to the driver. Due to the main impact being on the passenger side, an extensive extrication was conducted. Squad 2 worked with Squad 3 to successfully extricate the passenger, who was pinned under the console and dashboard. Both patients were flown to a local trauma facility by MSP Trooper 7.

This extrication was successful due to the ongoing training conducted at the station by officers to prepare for various vehicular collisions.
