Hughesville Volunteers make a little boys day
By Chief Jeremy Mercure
March 12, 2014
On Sunday the 9th, members of the Hughesville Volunteer FD & RS made a home visit to a young boy named Anthony who's only wish is to be a firefighter. As his mother explained "He is very into the firefighting thing so much that he will suit up and run through the house kicking doors open yelling 'fire department'" Young Anthony has been to the station for our departments open house. Showing up with his own set of turn-out gear and eager to learn more about not only the Job, but the Apparatus and training. Anthony had asked Santa Claus for an SCBA Facepiece to go with his firefighting ensombel, and even though it came a few months late, we helped that happen. Anthony was on cloud 9, and seeing this young man so eager to be a firefighter reminded us all why we all joined the Fire Department so many years ago.
